Chapter 11 – Do You All Love It?
Well, what should I do next?
Should I make a food storehouse?
If so, I’ll have to secure building materials first…
I need the cut wood for mushroom cultivation, so I need to get a lot of it…
That’s right!
First, let’s cut down the trees behind the house!
This house faces south, so that means the north side.
I’ll cut down the trees on the north side to secure wood and create a food storehouse.
I’ll expand the barrier to cover the vacant space, expand the land area, and then grow mushrooms there.
I think mushrooms grow easier in shaded areas than in sunny places.
Yeah, not bad!
Let’s go with that!
It might be a good idea to prepare firewood with the leftover wood.
I have a white Fluffy, so I don’t think I’ll need to go that far, but I’ll do it just in case.
Let’s do our best!
I enter the forest.
It’s on the north side, and there are a lot of trees, so it’s dark and humid.
I move to the area that will be the new border.
For now, I think I’ll expand it by the size of one house.
In my previous life, this expansion would have been quite difficult for one person to do, but in this world, I have a convenient item called white Fluffy.
In front of a large tree about one meter in diameter, I stand with my feet shoulder-width apart.
I take out the white Fluffy from my right hand and it transforms into a long, thin shape.
It is three meters long, and gives the impression of a Japanese sword that is too huge to be called a sword!
I shape the blade into a sharp one.
I plan to swing it diagonally and cut down trees.
In my previous life, it would have been impossible for even an adult man, let alone a middle school girl, to cut them in one stroke, but in this life it is surprisingly easy.
I’m not sure if it’s because this is a different world, the excellence of the white Fluffy, or the result of my Fenrir Mama’s training, but–.
I raise the Fluffy-made Japanese sword while tilting it away from the house, and cut it down in one slash.
The part of the white Fluffy sword that had cut through the tree started to shift, so I pushed it with my palm so that it would fall away from the house.
Without this push, it could have fallen in the opposite direction.
It tilted in the direction I aimed, and it fell, taking other large trees with it.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure if this was the correct way to do it.
But after trying various things, I found this to be the easiest.
Yes, I can do it!
The trick is to send as much magical power as possible into the blade, making it hard and solid.
When you do this, the white Fluffy will solidify, and what’s more, it will gain weight.
If you use that weight to cut, you can cut not only large trees, but even rocks in half.
I was the one who actually came up with this.
When I showed it to my mom for the first time, her eyes were wide.
Then she laughed and said, “You do some unusual things,” which I wasn’t sure was a compliment or an insult.
Incidentally, the Fluffy sword was not popular in my family.
Well, that’s to be expected, since Fenrir moms have claws stronger than the Fluffy sword.
But no, more importantly, I had to cut down the trees.
First of all, I cut them down.
Cut, cut, cut!
For the stumps, I wrapped the white Fluffy around the roots like a thin string.
Holding them in a bundle, I pulled the tree out with a shoulder-to-shoulder throw.
I got covered in soil from the pulled-out roots, which was the worst, but I endured.
And I was done in about an hour.
I had about twelve trees in total, and I was a bit tired.
But there was still a lot to do, like cutting and cutting branches.
It’s pretty hard…
I’ll do my best~
…
…
After another hour, it’s done!
I have twelve logs!
…So?
I kind of knew this while I was working on it…
I can’t make a food storage.
What should I do without nails?
Huh?
What do the main characters of web novels usually do?
…What did they do?
—
Morning!
Cloudy!
After breakfast, I ran outside.
[I want to eat vegetables, not just bear meat!]
I roared.
I mean, I’m eating bear meat, fruit, and mushrooms for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I’m getting bored of it.
Medicinal herbs are good for seasoning, but they’re a bit strong on their own.
I feel this even more because in my mom’s cave house, I ate all the vegetables that my older elf sister brought me or that my mom grew.
If only I had those seeds I could grow them…
Should I search the forest again?
Or should I try the human town again?
It’s a difficult decision.
As I was thinking this, I felt something approaching my homeland.
I turned my eyes and saw the ants.
They were waving from outside the barrier.
When I got closer, they held something out to me with their front paws.
Oh, seeds.
It seems the ants have gotten a taste for apples and oranges.
Well, I’m grateful.
There seem to be about three kinds.
What are they?
I’m looking forward to it!
After receiving them, I turned around and thought about where to plant them.
Well, I guess it’s fine to just go somewhere.
If it turns out badly, I can just replant it.
First, I buried one near the apple tree and used plant growth magic.
“Grow!”
Then, buds sprouted and something started growing.
“…What, a rose?”
A bright red rose bloomed, as big as my face.
Hmm, it’s really pretty and smells good, but it would be nice if I could eat it.
Ah, can roses be made into jam?
Well, I’ll try that next.
I planted the second one and used “Grow!”, and a rice-like plant sprouted!
“What!?
Rice!?”
I was hopeful, but something was different.
It looked like barley.
I remember hearing in a past life that barley contains some kind of vitamin, so you should eat it as much as you can.
…But how?
I wonder if it will work if I turn it into powder?
I’ll put it on hold.
I’ll “grow it!” with the last one.
…
…
Yeah, it’s a long-awaited vegetable.
Everyone loves bell peppers.
Of course, I love them too…mumble mumble.
The bell peppers from my past life were ripe.
The green ones were lying on the ground, limp and floppy, with about twenty of them.
…
I picked all the peppers and took them to the big ants.
Here comes the thing you’ve all been waiting for!
But the ants refuse to take them!
They point their front paws at the orange, appealing for it to be given to them.
“Don’t mess with me!
Take them!
At least take half of them!”
After an ugly fight, I somehow manage to get them to take the ten bell peppers.
I have no choice but to give them about twenty oranges that I made ripen this morning after casting another spell on them.
“If you throw these peppers around, I won’t give them to you again!”
I don’t forget to put nails in them either.
Because ghosts will come out if you don’t use them!
Perhaps they understood, or perhaps they were overcome by my momentum, the ants nodded and went home, holding each of them in their front paws.
—
After seeing the ants off, I moved to the back of the house.
Well, shall I continue?
I worked hard on making firewood yesterday.
What, building a warehouse?
You’re probably thinking that.
No, because I had no idea how to make one!
I remember reading something about Japanese architecture without nails in a web novel or something, but of course I don’t know the details.
I thought about it for a long time, gave up, and decided to make firewood for the time being.
I thought that a good idea might come to me while I was doing that.
The method for making firewood is simple. Cut it to the right length with white Fluffy, cover the pile with a wide range of white Fluffy and let it dry.
Then, firewood that burns well is complete.
For the time being, I made as much as I could fit in my firewood storage area and packed it up.
Firewood made!
…No good ideas came to mind.
So I thought, “Nah, never mind!” and went to bed yesterday.
And so, this is what I thought after sleeping all night.
For the time being, I’ll make it into lumber and prioritize expanding the country.
That was it.
I cut the large trees to a maximum height of three meters.
Then, I covered them with white Fluffy and dried them while sending heat magic.
I read in a web novel that they had to be dried before they could be used for buildings, so I followed that.
I had done a lot of drying with firewood yesterday, so I was quite used to it.
What if it rains?
I wish I could get a cover or something.
Once that’s done, I use the white Fluffy to lift it up and pile it up in front of the house, on the east side.
Perhaps the trees in this other world are light, or perhaps it’s the result of my Fenrir Mama training, but I can do it as easily as picking up a twig.
I finished everything in about two hours.
I then used the white Fluffy to shape the dragonfly to smooth out the uneven ground.
It was quite hard, but I worked hard using a dragonfly made by compressing magical power and making it heavier, and it turned out reasonably well.
I think that this is probably how I, a middle school girl in my past life, used to level the school grounds.
Maybe I was in a club?
But in the image that comes to mind, there is no one around.
…I’ll stop thinking about it.
Having done that much, I will finally be able to expand my country’s territory.
