Chapter 16 – Become friends with the Red Eagles!
After the dissection, we decided to talk during our lunch break.
I got some cookies there!
My first cookies in this world!
It was a portable meal, so it was a bit dry, but I was a little touched.
I treated them to some freshly caught bear meat.
They were surprised and annoyed at the process of freezing and thawing it, but I made them steaks using the white Fluffy as a hot plate, and they were happy.
I only seasoned it with rock salt, but it was delicious, Mr. Weak Bear.
After the meal, I took a smoke break, and then Ryan, the leader of the Red Eagles, asked me about me.
“You’re dressed very strangely, and you’re so strong, so I thought you’d be famous, but I didn’t know you. Maybe you’re from another town?”
So I told them I lived deep in the forest nearby, and they were all surprised.
“Hey, hey, the depths of this forest are so dangerous that even high-level adventurers don’t set foot there! Can people really live there!?”
…Is it really that dangerous?
Oh, it’s definitely dangerous once you cross the mountain.
That’s why I told them.
Before that mountain, there are only weak bears at best.
But the three of them looked a bit confused.
Then they started to mutter.
“Are weak bears the ‘forest demons’?”
“N-no, no, people can’t live there with just those around, right?”
“But this girl, I can take her down with one kick.”
Wait, she’s really weak?
I also learned a lot of other things.
That this country is an empire.
That the nobles are full of scum.
That the commoners are poor, and the only way for those with nothing to inherit to rise to power is to become adventurers.
The Red Eagles are an up-and-coming group of adventurers.
“And yet you were almost defeated by a weak bear? ?”
I looked at him with a dirty look, and Ryan tried his best to explain himself.
That bear isn’t weak!
It would take twenty knights and magicians to defeat it!
And so on.
…I’ll just let that be.
When I started to look at him with a lukewarm look, Captain Ryan of the Red Eagles started to get depressed and said, “It’s true!”
I get it!
Captain Ryan of the Red Eagles asked me, “Are you going to town now?”
When I told him there was no entrance fee, he said he’d pay it as thanks for helping me.
A town, huh?
I’d like to go, but the gatekeeper is a bit scary.
I have no motivation to go into town if I have to put up with that.
So I politely declined.
Huh? A thank you?
You don’t have to worry about it…
But if I had to say…
“I want some vegetable seeds! Also, some seed potatoes.”
Everyone in the Red Eagles looked puzzled.
Captain Ryan of the Red Eagles asked on behalf of the others.
“Are you going to do some farming?”
He then explained that there was a magic spell that would allow you to grow things quickly if you had the seeds, and all three of them looked at each other with wide eyes.
Is it really that rare?
Captain Ryan of the Red Eagles said with a wry smile.
“Sally, it’s better not to talk about plant-growing magic too much. You’ll get harassed by nasty merchants and nobles.”
Oh, that reminds me, that’s what Mom said!
I hurriedly covered my mouth, and Captain Ryan of the Red Eagles patted my head with a smile, saying, “Be careful from now on.”
Then, as if he had suddenly thought of something, he started rummaging through his bag.
He then took out a small bag and handed it to me.
“These are pepper seeds. I’ll give you this as a thank you for this.”
“Pepper! Really?”
I took the bag and looked inside.
There were about three brownish seeds inside.
It was the same as the one the elf gave me before.
Mark from the Red Eagle said in a panic.
“Hey, Captain! That’s ridiculously expensive, isn’t it!?”
Ana from the Red Eagle also looked at me with wide eyes.
In response, Captain Ryan of the Red Eagle laughed heartily and said.
“That’s true, but it’s cheap compared to a life! Besides, even if it’s expensive, it was a gift. It doesn’t grow around here. You can probably grow it with your magic, right?”
“I’ll try!”
As I was getting pumped up, Captain Ryan of the Red Eagle laughed.
Then, I gave him the materials from the Weak Bear, which I heard sell for a high price.
He was going to use the money to buy various seeds.
We agreed to meet the day after tomorrow morning, a short distance from the town gate, to collect the money.
For a moment, I wondered if he would just take them home, but after all, they were just Weak Bear materials, so I decided to give up, thinking of them as tuition fees.
“Oh, I want some cloth to wipe my body. I also want you to buy various kinds of bags, large, medium, and small. If there are any baskets that can be carried on the back, I’d like that too!”
When I asked, Ana from the Red Eagle Brigade slapped her large chest and said, “Leave it to me.”
…Your breasts are secretly big.
The two men stared intently at the changed shape of the breasts.
The leader looked frustrated.
Men are really pointless!
By the way, mine… feels like a hope for the future.
—
It was too much of a hassle to carry them back, so I decided to give not only the claws and fangs, but also the meat that I hadn’t eaten for lunch, to the three members of the Red Eagle Brigade.
However, perhaps because he hadn’t trained hard enough, even though I had selected only the best parts, he was carrying the bagged meat with a very unsteady step.
He kept complaining that it was heavy, so when I asked if I could help him, he refused.
Apparently it was a matter of his manly dignity.
Is that so…
But it would be terrible if he were attacked by a magical beast in this condition, so I accompanied him as a guard until he reached the town gate.
Then the scary gatekeeper was standing there again, and when he saw me, he tried to say something.
Scary!
“Well then!”
I shouted as I dashed away from the scene.
When I returned to my homeland, the fairies swarmed over me as if they had been waiting for me.
What’s going on!?
I followed as I was told, and what!? A hut had been built next to my house.
The fairy princess made some kind of gesture with her hands.
What!?
You made it!?
Sorry for using the wood you cut yesterday without permission?
I don’t mind that at all, but what!? Fairy, you made something so small and impressive.
The inside is about eight tatami mats in size, and it’s spacious enough to even store a car from my previous life.
It would be perfectly usable as a storage shed.
As I was admiring it, several fairies stood in front of me and proudly arched their chests.
They all had no wings, but they were larger than the other fairies, holding mallets that seemed to be about half the length of their bodies.
One of them stepped forward and slapped her chest as if to say, leave it to me.
He was an old fairy with a tricorn hat and a long grey moustache and beard.
He’s reliable!
I asked the crafting fairy grandpa to make shelves and other things.
Then the fairy princess approached with her attendants.
Each attendant had a seed.
Hmm?
Oh, so I can just grow them.
Of course, I don’t mind.
What?
She said she wanted to make a flowerbed area.
Have you decided on a location?
…That’s the place that seems to get the most sunshine…
No, since she’s making things, I can’t help it!
Let’s make beautiful flowers bloom!
I also moved the rose I grew first.
The fairy princess flew around and was overjoyed.
So cute!
