Chapter 20 – Rolling Around Room

It was a bad idea to leave it to the fairy princesses.

It seems the princesses are only interested in flowers and fruit, and I noticed that wheat, seed potatoes, and vegetable-like seeds had been thrown away at the edge of the country.

Hey!

That’s outrageous!

There was a lot going on, so I put them away in the house for the time being to use at a later date.

I honestly don’t know much about the flowers, so I’ll leave them there, but I got cherries, plums, and raspberries as fruits.

Amazing!

I’ll take them as souvenirs to thank Anna and the others from the Red Eagle Brigade.

Before that, I took a bite of a plum.

Sweet and sour!

Delicious!

As I shared them with the fairy princesses, the giant ants looked at me in a daze (I assume).

Well, they were in a good mood, so I’ll share them.

They happily took them home.

But, how can I put it, I’ve been raising them in various places haphazardly, so the area in front of my house has become a bit chaotic.

I wish the country was a bit more spacious and tidy.

But I’m not good at that sort of thing.

The slow-life protagonists of web novels are impressive, aren’t they?

They even organize things by expressing things in words like [Trees, trees, fields, fields △△] instead of illustrations.

I think that’s very impressive!

Hmm, is it okay to leave it like this for now?

A cool wind caresses my face.

It was quite hot until just a while ago, but it’s completely autumn now.

Winter comes quite early around here.

There’s a lot of snow, so I’ll have to stay hibernating.

Until last year, I liked this season when I could just laze around with my moms, but this year I’m on my own.

I’m lonely…

No, this is not the time to be saying such things!

It’s difficult to hunt in winter, so I need to make sure I have some meat.

Even though I have food cultivation magic, it uses a surprising amount of magical power in the cold.

So I want to make some and store it.

Now that I think about it, how do the fairy princesses feed themselves?

I communicate with them using gestures.

It seems that they don’t need it.

However, they sometimes want to eat fruit, so maybe I should make a lot of dried fruit?

My elf sister taught me how to make dried fruit.

My Fenrir sister likes it, so I made some for her.

She licked my face with such joy.

Mom also said how great she was and rubbed her cheek.

I wonder if I should grow potatoes and vegetables?

Wheat…it’s a hassle to process, so I don’t need it at worst.

I’ll make it bit by bit over the winter, experimenting.

If it was just me and Kel, we wouldn’t eat that much, but I’ll make a little extra just to be safe.

Kel and I are still growing, after all!

As I was thinking that, Grandpa Crafting Fairy approached me.

Oh, you’ll make a storage room for us?

Underground?

That’d be great!

Oh, dig in the designated spot?

All right!

Using the white Fluffy, I dug in the opposite direction from the toilet.

It’s a little too big, isn’t it?

… Surely they’re not all for dried fruit?

No?

Should we store a lot of dried fruit for the fairies in the hollow of the big tree?

…Is that so?

I processed the wood as Grandpa Crafting Fairy instructed.

I think I should cut down some more trees.

I want to expand the land for the fields.

I cut down a circle of trees, dry them, and keep them.

Of course, I won’t forget to move the barrier stones.

Oh, I think I should prepare some more firewood.

The firewood storage area in the house is full, but I’m a little worried about the whole winter.

Grandpa Crafting Fairy!

I’m going to make a lot of dried fruit, so please make a shed to store the firewood!

Morning has come!

It’s sunny again today, is it what they call a clear autumn day?

I don’t know if there is a term for a clear autumn day in the other world.

Grandpa Crafting Fairy worked hard yesterday, so we were able to store both food and firewood.

Amazing!

I immediately started making a lot of firewood.

The new shed was full in about four hours.

It should be enough for one person plus one head (three heads).

After lunch, I went out hunting.

I defeated a weak bear and a weak boar and got some meat.

I also managed to hunt a giant pheasant-like bird that my younger brother loved.

Five of them!

They were five meters long and pesky creatures that cast fire magic, but I sneaked up on them unnoticed and chopped off their heads with a white Fluffy.

I’m so happy!

Not only is the meat delicious, but the feathers are beautiful and can be used to keep warm, so they’re very helpful.

I have mom’s futon, so maybe I should make a cushion or something?

After thinking about it, I came up with a great idea!

I’ll ask Grandpa, the crafting fairy.

Easy?

Leave it to me?

I can rely on him!

I leave that part to my grandpa, butcher the catch and take it to the underground storehouse.

It’s so cold inside that my breath is white because I’ve put ice made with freezing magic inside.

I put the blocks of meat on the shelves that my grandpa, the crafting fairy, made for me.

Don’t forget to use freezing magic when I do.

The one weak bear I already had is a decent amount of meat, and with the weak bear meat from the day before, the weak boar meat, and the chicken meat (five chickens), it should be enough for just me and Kel-chan to get through the winter.

…There’s still plenty of space in the underground storehouse.

It’s only about a quarter full now.

I tried too hard and may have made it too big.

If I have milk, I wonder if I can make ice cream?

Also, I think I saw something about freezing vegetables on TV in my previous life, so maybe I’ll try that?

When I returned home, Grandpa Crafting Fairy beckoned me.

Eh?

It’s done already!?

I entered the room on the southeast side that I used as a storage room.

Wow, that’s amazing!

Thank you!

Since the storage room was moved outside, I had asked him to turn one of the storage rooms on the house side into a relaxation room.

It would be a room where I could roll around barefoot.

I asked Grandpa Crafting Fairy to assemble some wood and raise the floor so that there was a step of about 10 cm inside the room.

I needed space to open and close the door and take off my shoes right from the entrance, so I left it as it was.

Other than that, the floor is higher.

Furthermore, I quickly bring some fur from a weak bear or something and lay it in the center of the room.

Then, I take off my shoes and roll around on it.

The rolling around room is complete!

As a Japanese person in my previous life, I guess it’s necessary to live without shoes!

It’s very relaxing.

…Hmm, maybe just wrapping the fur directly is not so good.

What if I wrap it in cloth like a sheet?

I bring the one Ana from the Red Eagle Band gave me and try it out.

…Well, I was told to wipe my body, and it’s not that big so I don’t think I could wrap the skin of a weak bear in it.

Should I get a larger piece of fabric?

Oh, but I need to cut and sew, too, so maybe it’s too much for me…

Maybe I should ask a craftsman in town to do that for me…?

As I was thinking about it in front of the fabric and fur, a fairy appeared in front of me.

An old lady with wings—a fairy, she was holding a needle that was huge by fairy standards.

What?

As long as I have the thread and fabric, I can leave the sewing and cutting to her!?

You’ll even have enough clothes in my size!?

Amazing!

What?

More dried fruit instead?

That’s good!

Can I leave the cushion to her?

No problem!?

Okay, let’s go ask Anna of the Red Eagle Brigade tomorrow morning for the thread and fabric!

I want to meet her and apologize, since we parted ways without saying goodbye.

Oh yeah, we have to share the fruits we grow!
