Chapter 1 Fairy Reincarnation, Beginning with a Bang

 

How long has it been since then? Since I was left in this building, inside a barrel drum. I no longer had a clear grasp of time. My mother, the debts you left behind, I’ve paid them all… even some of my organs have been pulled out. Sealed in concrete inside a drum can without a cover is where I’ve wound up because of that.

“Ahh… so hungry… so sleepy…”

Perhaps I’ll die the moment I sleep, I cannot fulfill a human’s three biggest needs. If I sleep and die, I think it will be easier as I won’t suffer as much.

And so I decided to slowly close my eyes…

The smell of refreshing wind hits my nose. Awaking to the glare of bright lights, my consciousness slowly surfaces.

“Nyu–…did I… fall a…. Ahhhhh.”

I have always had a form of insomnia, but this time I slept like a log. Somehow, I felt great. Moreover, I don’t feel hungry anymore, it feels kind of out of place being so refreshed compared to before.

“…hwaaa!?”

However, when I looked around I saw the neighborhood had changed into a wonderful meadow, which seemed to be welcoming me.

“…Hweee!?”

Why a grassland? No matter where I look there is only the bright gentle sun and trees that surround this area. The air is so fresh and delicious that it feels like you can eat it with rice.

There is no place in Japan like this… so it should be somewhere else.

For the time being, I wanted to confirm my appearance. Glancing at my body, I noticed a bundle of paper in my left hand. I guess I should read it…

“Hmm now let’s see what this is? [Because you were drowned in the sea while asleep, you have died. As a god, I have reincarnated you in this world, I recommend that you live freely to your heart’s content. Flip the paper over for some extra information. PS: You did not wake up no matter how many times I tried, so just consider this as an apology. Sorry.] … the way the god felt sorry feels like a child’s prank that got out of hand, and then they were forced to be responsible for it.”

So it’s like that other-world reincarnation stuff, right? But I haven’t turned into a baby… as I have verified with my body’s eyes, this isn’t my body. Nor is it the body of a human, it has something that only insects or birds should have, wings. They’re still attached to a humanoid body, though. As for the face… I can’t see it, so I can’t check it.

“Wings… right… not to mention…”

This body seems kind of small now that I look around. It feels like I’m a dwarf. When standing in the meadows, the grass around is almost as tall as my head. It’s quite amazing.

I somehow know of a creature that fits this description.

“Have I… been reincarnated as a fairy?”

For now though I read what’s on the paper, the first thing listed is information about this world, then various things about my current condition.

The name of this world is “Avalon”. A world of swords and magic where creatures like angels, demons, gods, and even evil spirits seem to exist. Heroes and Demon Lords occasionally show up as well. Status tables are real, as if this place is an RPG, but if you die then it’s a permanent game over.

And it seems that I have been turned into a “Fairy”. Why not a human? Maybe there are reasons behind it?

Maybe “It may not be a bad thing to reincarnate as something aside from a human?” A possibility is that there are more incarnations of myself in other worlds as well. Perhaps they were born as humans, but a human would bring serious harm to this world.

If you bring trouble to the local people, it might be so. At the very least, I was not turned into an ugly guy with gender problems, nor did I become someone that would play a really important role. That was a positive.

Was there no real reason for it… Nn?

“Eh?… There was no real reason why I’m reincarnated?”

As I read further, it seemed like the direction where souls move is different in each world. Depending on the world, there are times when the soul will stay in that world forever without moving around. It’s the same for this world, if souls are not circulated around in worlds like these the world will collapse. Gods seem to be doing their work. This is great!

“Well… in my case it’s great, but…”

My parents… were the worst, not to mention they just kept taking more debts. Well, if God said I can start again with a new life then maybe it’s not all bad. There were so many times when I was running away that I indulged myself in delusions of fantasy like this. Thinking about it now I feel pumped. Excitement that I have never felt before is now overflowing in my body.

Next, I check my status as it was written on the paper.

My status came out like a sheet of paper in front of my eyes, but it didn’t seem normal. I was expecting the status of an ordinary fairy, but two things stuck out. My species and INT stat were definitely abnormal. Even after rechecking the paper, there wasn’t any mention of having such ridiculous bonuses given to me, so I’m just thinking that it may be some RNG at work.

The amount of INT isn’t normal, but why? Verifying it on the paper, it seems that it is dependent on the knowledge I possess. It’s probably because of my education that it is so high.

I also verified some other information, since I seem to possess a lot of unique skills. And so I checked them one by one.

Fairy Magic: Mana is used as a medium. This magic is dependent on the caster’s imagination, so casting does not require chants. Instead, Mana is consumed according to the effects produced, a clear mental image is required to use this skill.

Fairy skills are Inherent Skills of the fairy species and are placed in the Inherent Skill section. All skills in the Inherent Skills section will be treated as an Inherent Skill. In the case of fairies that are not constricted by attributes, any attribute attack from Inherent Skills will also be treated as a free attribute. It’s quite an explanation. But imagination? I guess that means I can use it naturally, but I still need to practice doing so. My current status is probably really fragile, based on how it feels like if I’m hit by a stone, I’ll die.

Well, at least it doesn’t consume Magic Power, it’s all you can cast for practice.

Fairy Eyes: Eyes that can see the truth. Among the fairy race, it is rarely inherited. Among other creatures, an eye skill on similar strength will rarely be developed and will likely be an inferior version. Disclosure of opponents Status is possible, and it also prevents the targets from telling lies.

It’s like the “Appraisal Skill” of main characters, I guess. It seems luck is with me, since it’s even rare among the fairy species. Not to mention, it can even pass through a person that is stronger than myself. (Where does it say that?) I also won’t have to worry about someone lying to me. Though I’m not sure, I’ll meet someone so soon.

The next skills seem to be related to my race.

Spatial Manipulation: Magic that is considered to be the hardest to learn and handle. Enables expansion of space, rupturing dimensions, inventory, short/long-range teleportation, and various composite magics. Normally it is recognized as a skill, but it is an Inherent Skill of the Dimensional Fairy Race.

This one seems rather dangerous, it seems like it should be a skill that consumes a great amount of Magical power, but since I’m a Dimensional Fairy, it has been added as an Inherent Skill and the skill is usable without the need for Magic Power. All the low stats (aside from INT) have been overturned by this skill.

Manifestation Dependence: Status Correction and increase will be given depending on the creature’s natural reproduction ability and manifestation.

Okay now wait. Isn’t this skill the most dangerous of them all? If it is as I imagine, I am currently a dimension fairy, so If I refer to myself and my race towards reproduction. How will I even reproduce? And examining myself with my fairy eyes is strange.

Dimensional Fairy: Unique species in this world. Unlike other creatures in nature, It is a creature that is singular and unique, only reproducing by reincarnating oneself.

Ok, I’ll just not think about it…

I have now understood just how much of a monster I have turned into. I am afraid of how my growth will turn out. It’s nice to know that the growth rate of races varies, but…

Never mind, let’s move onto the next problem.

I need to know where I am currently. If it is a place with demons or predators around I would pretty much be easy food for them. I’m still not used to this body and how it moves which lowers my chances of survival even more. Not to mention being in a battle just after being reborn. For now, I concentrate on my wings and try flying to get out of this place.

“Ou…oh…ohhhh… flying… I’m flying!!”

As my body begins to float slowly I begin trying to move around, up-down, side to side, backwards, and after 10 minutes grasp how to control it like an extra limb.

It seems that this is also a characteristic of this race, so it’s not reflected as a skill. However, being able to fly gets me excited about those fights I’ve seen in manga. I can’t fly that fast for now, though.

“Alright!… travel !… I want to travel, it’s a fantasy world after all, I want to interact with locals, feel the culture, fight monsters, and see big castles too! I have to think of ways to survive before that, though.”

I’m somewhat calm now, but earlier I was kind of scared. Furthermore, I have been thinking that something like a “demon” might come out, and I trembled for a bit… No way right?

“For now, though, I must search for a safe place to stay…are? Are?”

When I was thinking out loud I suddenly stopped and turned around, hearing someone call me from behind.

The moment I turned around, there was a “Fairy” that looked like me floating smoothly in the air. She has long sky blue hair, indigo eyes, and is wearing a long one-piece dress. I immediately used “Fairy Eyes” and looked at the status of the fairy.

Looking closer, the girl is beautiful.

“Who…?”

As I said that to the girl, she also asked the same question. I decided to approach her to say hello but… I forgot, I currently don’t have a name.

For a while now, we have been flying while holding hands.

Looking at the forest, it’s a wall of trees in front of us. If I estimate it correctly, the trees would probably reach a hundred meters in height. I moved my hands to the place Arena pointed at. My arms then began to sink into it. It was kind of scary. The barrier began to ripple, and I slowly sunk in, but I didn’t let go of her hand, and we went in together.

Like this… I’ll believe in Arena.

“Ready? Let’s Go!”

“”We’re here!!””

And then… this place that I cannot even imagine.

A magnificent sight was displayed in front of me.

“Welcome!♪”

Yup… that smile is cute.

Chapter 2 The Delightful Friends of Fairyland

“Yup… Definitely, Fantasy!!”

There were stupidly tall trees, making it so that looking up would be a pain. Wrapped around the trees were Fairies houses that seem to have been made using natural things from the forest. The place was lit by the fairies’ bodies that emitted gleams of light.

That is what was in the woods that we came through, but this space seems to be isolated by something, even the air in this space seems different. My Excitement is already going into overdrive…

The moment I was reincarnated I was definitely sent to an area close to this fairy village on purpose, Gods also do some good things occasionally. I probably would’ve died if I didn’t meet Arena, though.

“Scary…”

“Ah… Sorry… yoshi…yoshi…”

Because I suddenly let out a loud yell, Arena was slightly frightened. I cuddled her head immediately, “there, there…” this should return the mood to before. Although we have just met, She won’t think I’m a scary person, right? I need to make sure of that.

And now, all the fairies who noticed Arena and I gathered towards us. Everyone was as tall as Arena, In terms of differences, it would be their colors and shades.

“Who’s this?”

“A face I don’t know?”

“Where, does she come from?”

“Arena’s acquaintance?”

“A new Resident?”

“A visitor for the Queen?”

Only the last words caught my attention. Queen? Of the Fairies? However, the curiosity of the fairies was really incredible, and they bombarded me with questions. Arena was then lifted by the fairies and made a “Kyaa” noise. She seemed to be enjoying the attention and being lifted.

A few minutes later, everything finally calmed down and they went away. Arena stood next to me and asked, “Are you okay?”with a concerned face. I’m fine, just a bit tired from all that, I replied. While we were talking, someone came up to us and called for us.

Looking towards the voice, there was a fairy covered in full body armor, excluding the face. Unlike other fairies, Her hair and eyes had shining rainbows within them with oscillating gradation and color. She has a really beautiful face like a goddess to match.

Looking at her anyone who could see could tell that she was of a different class. Giving off the bearing of a knight and carrying swords were the main indicators of that class.

“Greeting, My fellow fairy without a name”

“Ah… Hai! Greetings… Um, who might you be?”

“I am a fairy serving under the Queen, thy name is Norn. For a newborn fairy your INT seems to be quite high which should really help the situation. Thy queen is waiting, would you please accompany me to meet her?”

“Of course, desu, I also want to know about various things.”

Finally, someone decent enough to talk to has come, But still this person seems to know that I was just born, Maybe she possessed something like [Fairy Eyes] like myself. Let’s have a peek at her status for a bit.

I don’t feel like fighting but, I don’t feel like I will win either way. The tribe is also in a different level. An Elemental Master seems to be an extraordinary species. She does possess [Fairy Eyes] like I suspected, but what is with that (degraded) next to it? Perhaps she is only able to see a limited amount of information.

We followed Norn while staying silent. Just being silent is kind of boring, so I’ll try to talk to Norn for a bit. Norn-san also seems to have a different level of knowledge compared to the others based off of her INT.

“Um, what is that huge tree at the center?”

“Nn?… Ah… It’s called the world tree, It is also the mother figure of all the fairies who are here.”

“Mother Figure? Is it what that allows fairies to manifest?”

“That’s right, But you seem to be different”

“Wah… Wah, sorry, it’s just, You don’t look like thy same as the ones around here, thy moment you were born it seems you didn’t know anything about yourself, Most fairies stay safe because they are being born close to world trees, but there are also rare cases like yourself that are born on the outside”

Norn-san makes a satisfied face while giving out a snort. So that’s why. Norn-san who is serving under the queen likes to show some dignity that befits the job she has taken. Apparently, fairies like to live normally, even if their INT is high. This seems to be normal around here, even if their status is different. They don’t do much about that and are just having fun.

“Well then, Let’s go, She is waiting inside.”

Norn-san gave out a really bright smile and walked towards the door. I wonder if Norn-san is tense.

“…”

No, that probably isn’t the case. It’s more like trying to conceal her overflowing joy in front of the Fairy Queen that she has known for a long time. I wonder what she’s really like?

“Greetings new neighbor, I am the Queen, Testanica Fairliner. Sorry about this, but, is it alright if I look at you with my “Fairy Eyes”?”

In front of me is the Queen sitting in on a wooden throne. Norn-san got down on one knee. Then stood back up after. Eh, was that it? Or maybe she got tired of it? That might be it.

It seems like the queen didn’t mind, so I stayed standing. It was the same with Arena.

… Why are you here with me? This child…

“It’s ok… Is it ok If I look too?”

“It’s fine♪…”

And when we checked each other’s status, she suddenly exclaimed loudly.

We shouted at the same time. The fairies that were standing around jumped a little when we shouted. Having been silent for a bit, we then exchanged a handshake.

It might be close to a fairy’s instinct. Because I have memories of being human, it seems my fairy instinct has been obstructed. Living as a Fairy in this world is rather tough, I suppose.

“Well then, shall we begin the ceremony? That way we can all have a banquet tonight in celebration of having a new comrade”

“Do we really have to make it so grand?”

“Now, for the 14985th time, Naming ceremony will now begin”

Why is it done in a huge wooden stage with wooden tables at the middle and in front of the world tree, Even the whole town of fairies gather together just to decide on a name. What’s more amazing is that they have done this meeting for a ridiculous number of times already. Do they really have to make a fuss about something like this?

“Now first will be introductions!”

Are you serious? Am I really getting so nervous that cold sweat flows from my hands? This is ridiculous. My heart is also pounding like crazy as if it would come out of my back at any moment.

No, but I already promised to abandon my common sense as human. Entering a town is to follow the rules of the place, there should be nothing to be embarrassed about. Let’s just go along with it.

The words that were going out of me seemed to turn into something silly, and my nervousness disappeared. I definitely should not mind it. (No clue what this is saying)

Eh? What? Why’s everyone giving me that pitying gaze? Hey you there female fairy, don’t cry as if I’m something so sad.. You’ll make me cry!!

Abandoning my thinking, I used [Fairy Magic]. I created clothes, IDOL style, and also created “Glow sticks” for all the fairies present. I missed most of the details about it, but still went with it as I remembered. And I proceed to sing Idol songs I know. What are the sticks used for, someone asked. I quickly grabbed and waved my sticks to demonstrate.

Not long after, my hype reached its climax along with the fairies and their eyes followed me wherever I went.

Well, It will be fever time till morning, I guess.

“Queen… Wasn’t this supposed to be a naming ceremony?”

Chapter 3 Road towards the Journey

The night is over and the next day, having drunk too much Distilled Spirits made from processed honey of the world tree, we all had hangovers and blue faces and were literally littered on the streets.

I have been singing with all my heart, and my throat sure endured well. There were times when stress has accumulated. I went to the mountains and sang with everything I’ve got. As a result of yesterday’s chaos, “singing” skill has been added and don’t you think going straight to A is too excessive? What I’m concerned about is something else, what is this tacked onto the race? “(Awakened)” huh. Using my fairy eyes, I checked what it meant.

Awakened: “Awakened form of your race”. Doubles all corrections at level up, and effects of Inherent Skills will be increased significantly.

It didn’t say anything about being awakened just by getting a name, right? Should I ask Norn-san about it? Or maybe Testanica-san would know about it. The name is more important now, I’m sure of it.

The status values on the board also rose slightly. I hoped that my efforts will show up in numerical values. I worked hard until the swordsmanship skill and, Four attribute magic were learned. Four attribute magic was possible because Testanica-san taught me the basics of chanting.

Regarding [Humanization], it was used far more than [Fairy Magic]. I learned it in the first year, but it took me two years to raise it to acceptable levels.

In the case of language, I am now able to write a majority of used words and their meanings, and could hold daily conversation level sentences. It was a bit hard for me because the shape of letters differ greatly from what the humans use, It was the result of Testanica-san’s education.

Anyway, this ends the first phase of travel preparations, the second stage will start today, and that is raising levels.

However, it’s difficult to fight them if there is more than one of them. Amateurs would struggle with just a pair of them. There are a lot of them in terms of numbers, and it is said they are so numerous they can easily send lots of reinforcements to each other, which they do via calling.

In other words, you must eliminate them immediately upon encounter.

After checking them for a while, Norn-san and I quietly approached them and from behind them activated [Fairy Magic]. The image was of two Spears of Wind. Keeping the sharpness in mind… I shoot!

I easily assassinated the goblins. It feels like I’m an Assassin Mage.

“Congratulations on your first victory. Goblins are weak when they’re alone, but they are troublesome if they are in a group. You did well”

“That battle was a surprise attack, It’s good that the first fight was like that”

Well, since there’s the status function, it doesn’t seem to be strange. I guess this is just how this world is. I wonder if it has anything to do with gods playing around like in my previous world. For my new life, it feels like it will be easy mode.

I also practiced fighting as a Human. Norn-san can’t Humanize, so she couldn’t be a training partner for me in my Humanized state. I can only fight with demons and practice using magic that humans can use. This has really turned into a huge development for me.

Later, the roles in Hide and seek began to change into [Goblins] for the ones who seek and [Adventurers] for the ones trying to hide and run away, It was fascinating.

And then Norn-san consulted it with Testanica-san and arranged a wide scale game. Testanica-san have given the approval quickly without trouble.

All the fairies also joined in and everyone accepted, and that’s how this event began.

I have learned the tricks of hiding from other fairies, the most important part is to know how to hide your “Presence”. But how do you consciously hide it? “Yes, one that isn’t from the world tree, why not try swinging it for a bit?”

Other than the point where I held it, everything else had disappeared. The broken parts then fell from a really high place. It seems like it flew to a really high place with great momentum. The two people went outside of Fairy Town, I wear clothes and armor made for Humanizing. This equipment is made from simple leather and iron armor and a slightly good sword. I brought it because the materials used was Iron, and the sharpness seems to be much better than others of the same quality. Even if it breaks, I’ll just use another Iron sword from storage,

Walking in the woods from there, we finally saw a meadow that goes beyond the horizon.

A fairy on my shoulder, A sky so bright and clear, it just uplifts the mood.

It gives a good experience value if you defeat with a party that has good cooperation because the monster’s movement is considerably slow. The meat is also edible, and is delicious even by just baking it.

But it sure is quite big. Its weight would probably reach around 300kg if you considered its body structure. I wonder how a party can carry something like this? Do they lend trolleys to carry them?
